Galactic Gala

Immersive Story Telling - How To

In 2022 Walt Disney World opened the Galactic Star Crusier, a revolutionary new experience combining theme park experiences with immersive story telling and hotel accomodations in everyone's favorite galaxy far far away.

While the experience was short lived, we did have the opportunity to attend and wish more people had the chance to live in their own Star Wars story, if only for a few hours.

The many talented actors, cast members, and crew of the Galactic Starcrusier put on a tremendous show that we will never be able to hold a candle to, but we are going to give it our best shot as amateurs to take the spirit of that experience and bring it to others. Please be kind, as this is our first attempt at an event, and we are not trained actors or stage hands.

What follows are some guides and a background story for you to consider if you'd like to try your hand at the experience during our brief evening together.

Rules and Guidelines

  1. First and foremost, keep your hands to yourself. Do not touch another participant. There may be situations of pretend violence between our staff, but you should not get involved physically with staff or other guests.

  2. Blasters and other weapons, we will be in a building where other events may be happening. Due to the risk of someone at another event mistaking a prop for a real weapon and calling the police we ask that you handle cosplay weapons accessories with care, or leave them at home. Taking pictures with them and putting them away is the best bet. We reserve the right to ask you to take any cosplay item and put it back in your car before coming in.

  3. If someone is uncomfortable and doesn't want to get involved in the experience give them their space and respect their boundaries.

  4. Don't cheat at Sabacc. Sometimes that is encouraged as part of the experience, but since we are submitting results to a national tournament we can't allow cheating.

With most of the "don'ts" out of the way, here are some things we do encourage.

  1. Some people are shy and might want to get more involved but not know how to do it. Please talk to people and share your "stories."

  2. There is a no touching rule, but we do encourage talking. You can absolutely lie, spy, and sneak, especially on our staff.

  3. Explore the environment, but focus on the people first and not the props or any tech (texts, emails, etc.). My biggest regret from the Starcruiser experience is that I thought winning on the app was the most important thing and missed out on the main feature of character interaction and I don't want that to happen to you.
